Abandoned Dogs

When a person takes it upon himself to look after a cat or dog the responsibility includes ensuring that their pet does not stray from their home. This is probably obvious but it needs to be stated because it tells us that the reason for the existence of stray animals is the failure of some people to look after their pet properly.

The problem of stray cats and dogs is our problem. If we wish to resolve the problem we need to look at ourselves critically and decide how we can improve the standard of cat and dog caretaking to ensure that they are looked after to a high standard within the family home.

On the basis that it is impossible to ensure that every cat and dog owner acts in a responsible manner, there will always be some stray animals. How do we deal with them? “Humanely” is the only way that we can deal with these animals. By “humanely” I mean decently and in a kindly manner and in a way whereby the cat or dog suffers the very least distress and pain.

If the owner is unknown then it may be possible to rehome a stray animal through the services of a rescue/shelter organisation. Stray cats and dogs therefore can be taken to a shelter for rehoming or they can be rehomed directly by the person who finds the animal. Indeed, some people take responsibility for the care and well-being of stray cats and dogs that they find. Although, this can lead to problems such as cat hoarding.

The trouble with shelters and rescue centres is that they are often overpopulated with unwanted cats and dogs. Therefore they have to euthanise them; although the better phrase is “kill them” because the word “euthanising” refers to the killing of an animal because he or she is terminally sick or fatally injured. Often the animals are perfectly healthy.

Because it is not always possible to find a new home for a stray animal it is vitally important that the standard of care of cats and dogs within the family home is raised across the country to ensure that there are less unwanted stray animals.

In general terms, here in Chile, doesn't exist any preocupation about the welfare of stray animals. There aren't genuine attempts to help them. In other parts of the world such as Asia, stray animals are often persecuted in a rather brutal way. A good example was the mass slaughter of stray animals in Beijing, China before the 2008 Olympics in order to clean up the streets so that visitors to the capital went home with the best possible impression about life in China.

People are often frightened of stray animals because they think that they carry diseases which may affect their health. Stray animals give the impression that they are ill because there are often very dirty and unkempt. This is because they are uncared for by a person. We should not forget that these were domestic animals. This fear of the stray animal encourages its persecution. Cruelty towards stray animals is quite common. The people who are cruel towards stray animals are uneducated and fail to realise that it is only because of the failure of people to discharge their responsibilities in the care of domestic animals that stray animals exist.

Paris: A wonderful symbol of 'love'

My favorite place in the world is France because is an historical and multicultural country with plenty of beautiful landscapes, amazing sculptures and a lot of things to see in relation with art, architecture, music, tourism, among others.

I investigate about how much the trip cost and how I can travel, and in order to get the most exiting experience, I prefer to travel by a plane, because I want to enjoy the feeling of travelling in first class.
When I arrive, I will visit Marseille. Is one of the oldest cities in Europe and it’s located off the southeast coast of France. There you can find a really big port that is separated by two forts and there you can go fishing in the afternoon. Then I will visit the French Riviera, because it’s the playground for rich people, filled by villages and cathedrals. It’s a beautiful place to explore the different contrasts between Barbarians and Christians, but the real masterpiece of France is Paris.

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, because many people (and me) consider it’s a perfect combination between historical museums, marvelous monuments and wonderful landscapes. From my point of view it’s one of the most popular destinations for tourist like me, and there you can find easily good food, restaurants, boutiques, and the most prominent landmark in Paris is the Eiffel Tower.
In Paris is not a problem to find a good place to eat, and if I want to spend a lot of money in a really expensive meal, I will go to Le Meurice in Paris’s restaurant. Located inside one of the most luxurious hotels in Paris, there you can find only finest French cuisine. The walls are decorated with gold and just one truffle will cost around $165. That’s the reason why Paris is the culinary capital of the world.

One of my biggest dreams in my life is to visit an aquarium and if I go to France, I will have the opportunity to visit the Aquarium of black Périgord, who is with over 6000 fish and it’s located in the department of Dordogne, right next to the village of Bournat. It’s a wonderful dream the fact to visit an enormous aquarium because when I was a child, I really enjoyed the first time I saw the movie called ‘’Nemo’’, and I felt identified with Dory, the blue fish, because she forgot everything, as me actually.
Also, if I don’t have the opportunity to travel to France, I will go on the most luxurious and expensive cruise trip and it’s called ‘’Allure of the Seas’’. Is the largest passenger ship with ice skating ring and the first Starbucks coffee shop at sea. Inside the cruise you can find plenty of pools, elegant restaurants, two central parks, a central dining room and casinos.

A very important topic for your favourite place is the weather. A perfect climate for me is neither hot nor cold, with a smooth breeze on the air and a few clouds on the sky, without humidity. For me, between twelve and twenty Celsius degrees it’s fine.
If I want to see ´the city of lights´, it’s important to know a little bit about the architecture and art. Paris also has many art galleries with paintings made by Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, among others. In relation with the architecture I like so much those buildings which represent the old age.
As a conclusion, if we put in a bowl the perfect weather, the money I received from the lottery, and the trip with perfect landscapes and the cruise, maybe I will have the most wonderful mixture, in order to be the happiest person in the world.
